Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Structured recovery after orthopedic surgery. We work to your surgeon's protocol and bridge you from the operating room back to full activity.

What we manage

Common post-surgical pathways we see:

  • ACL reconstruction
  • Rotator cuff repair
  • Meniscus repair or partial meniscectomy
  • Total hip and knee replacement
  • Shoulder labral repair
  • Ankle ligament reconstruction
  • Spine surgery (decompression, fusion) once cleared

How it works

Recovery after surgery follows a timeline your surgeon sets: when you can bear weight, when you can move through certain ranges, when you can start loading. Our job is to deliver the right rehab at each stage and keep your progress on track without crossing protocol lines.

Most pathways move through three broad phases:

  1. Protection and motion: managing swelling, restoring early range, light activation.
  2. Strength and control: progressive loading, technique work, balance.
  3. Return to activity: functional progression, sport-specific drills if relevant, criteria-based clearance.

For active patients (returning to running, sport, demanding work), the kinesiologist often takes over the late-stage conditioning phase in coordination with your physiotherapist.

Insurance

Post-surgical rehab is generally not covered by CNESST or SAAQ unless the surgery itself came from a covered injury. Most private insurance plans cover it; check your specific coverage.
